SCADA Modernization for Increased Resiliency and Operational Awareness

09-28-2023 10:29

Session Abstract

Michigan State University’s T.B. Simon Power Plant operates on automation hardware from decades ago. In 2015 the university opted to modernize its SCADA platform for increased system reliability and supportability. The solution was to implement a redundant, High Performance FactoryTalk environment to supplant the outdated equipment, while keeping the legacy controlling hardware in place. This presentation highlights the challenges of a state-of-the-art approach to modernization of obsolete automation systems.
