Using Hydrogen-Fueled Gas Engine Generators to Reduce the Carbon Footprint of District Energy Power Plants and Systems.

09-27-2023 12:45

Session Abstract

While the increased use of renewable energy has reduced the overall carbon footprint of power generation, the substitution of traditional fossil-fuels for hydrogen will eliminate the carbon contribution of reliable and dispatchable engine-generators. These generators are necessary to integrate with renewable power resources to provide consistent power directly to customers or to the grid in power generation and CHP applications. This presentation will provide the latest information on progress toward using 100% hydrogen fuel instead of diesel or natural gas. Advances in engine technology and fuel flexibility will be showcased. Global case studies will be presented highlighting power generation projects and best-practices for using hydrogen.
