Microgrids, like any other critical system, need to be commissioned and tested regularly to ensure proper operation in times of need. Site-specific constraints and regulatory requirements dictate the scope, complexity and duration of these tests. Our paper presents the lessons learned from several tests performed by A/Z Corporation at microgrid sites in CT from 2012–2018. Common technical challenges are discussed, and strategies are presented to make the process more efficient and less disruptive to the microgrid facilities.
