Summary

The microgrid market is developing rapidly as stakeholders have verifiable examples of successful installations in the utility, municipal, and healthcare spaces. Smart microgrid design achieves goals such as energy supply reliability and resiliency, source flexibility, cost-effective demand response and carbon reduction. This presentation described how to rapidly conceptualize a bespoke and economic microgrid comprising renewable sources, clean fuel power generation, hot water and chilled water and energy storage systems. The presentation focused on economic analysis, risk-adjusted contract structures, project delivery structures plus Operations and Maintenance to maintain asset value. The overall objective is to demystify microgrid development by outlining the logical sequence of development activities.
