Rubber tire manufacturing discharges large amounts of fugitive air emissions (VOCs) during curing and other high temperature operations. EPA regulations and the Clean Air Acts require factories to control emissions. Gas turbines can be deployed as an abatement technology for such pollutants, utilizing byproducts like Volatile Organic Hazardous Air Pollutants and Toluene to generate power and heat simultaneously. Feasability studies on how combustion of low calorific value VOHAPs and Toluene save a significant amount of expensive fuel, production costs and cut CO2 emissions.
