Bridging the Silos Between Building Plan & Plant through Comprehensive Energy Management at UNL

02-19-2020 17:49

Summary

The Utility and Energy Management team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln operates plant- and building-level district cooling and heating systems across three campuses. This presentation will focus on the ongoing efforts of UNL staff to bridge the silos of “building side” and “plant side” in order to increase energy efficiency and better serve the campus community. The benefits of thermal energy storage, major equipment overhauls, building recommissioning, and addressing low delta-T syndrome will be demonstrated from both sides of the distribution system. Cross-departmental efforts to implement recommendations from a recently completed Utility Master Plan will also be covered to demonstrate UNL's continued commitment to innovation.
