Microgrids are a hot topic, however, what does it really take to make one a reality? This presentation will touch on key challenges (reaching consensus between customers; site issues; Utility/Public Service laws; financial and contractual considerations; and compliance with local jurisdictions) that impacted the success of bringing the Burrstone Energy Microgrid to fruition with the blessing of the local Utility and become the primary source of power, steam, and hot/chill waters for three unique entities.
