03-13-2018 15:12

Summary

The University of Alaska Fairbanks started the process to replace aging coal boilers in 2004. The process started with exploring many fuel and technology options. The final recommendation was for a Circulating Fluidized Bed boiler fueled with coal and capable of burning 15% biomass. This case study will tell the story from the early stages through construction. The new $245M CHP plant is under construction and will be complete in 2018.
