For a campus that is already producing power and heat with cogeneration, when does it make sense to use excess heat from cogeneration to also produce cooling? This presentation describes the decision-making process and outcomes for a project to expand a chilled water plant and to use this excess heat to generate chilled water. The various options to achieve this outcome and the implications of different strategies for building a trigeneration system will be discussed.
