Summary

Following a scale-down in manufacturing production, Caterpillar Mossville Campus CHP based central plant mission changed.  The central plant originally included a CHP system consisting of three nominal 15 MW combustion turbines and associated heat recovery equipment, a nominal 5 MW back pressure steam turbine generator (STG), and a 3 MW back pressure STG. Identifying opportunities to optimize existing generating assets, Caterpillar is increasing system efficiency with a hybrid combined cycle STG solution.  The existing back-pressure steam turbine generators and condensers are being replaced with a nominal 12 MW condensing steam turbine generator with extraction capabilities and a new surface condenser.
