09-21-2020 16:49

On July 30, 2020, the Microgrid Resources Coalition submitted comments to the California Energy Commission on the Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR) Workshop on Assessing the Future Role for Microgrids in California.

The MRC commends the Commission for its leadership in recognizing the crucial role that microgrids will play in the state's clean energy future, but offers some suggestions and recommendations for consideration.

  • The IEPR should codify the wide range of values and benefits offered by microgrids to ratepayers and the state.
  • Departing load charges do not protect customers from cost shifting.
  • Thermal energy features in microgrids should be recognized and encouraged in the IEPR.
  • Investment in the research, development, and deployment of clean fuels is needed to meet California’s deep decarbonization and resiliency goals.
See below for the complete scope of recommendations provided by the Microgrid Resources Coaliton
