Model-based Non-destructive Corrosion Detection

06-20-2018 13:51

Summary

Managing the integrity of piping and other infrastructure via nondestructive testing (NDT) requires costly, labor-intensive inspections by highly trained personnel. Additionally, it is often necessary to remove insulation that must later be repaired. Our magnetometry-based defect detection approach is passive (low power), lightweight and contactless (over insulation and coatings). Stationary and scanning approaches have been demonstrated. Such NDT tools can provide improved situational awareness and operational flexibility, while reducing operational costs.
