The New York City Carbon Challenge launched in 2007 as part of the Bloomberg Administration’s PlaNYC, helping to bring new energy policy and long term goals for greenhouse gas reductions to New York City. The Carbon Challenge was first introduced to New York City’s Universities, with the goal to reduce their greenhouse gas footprints by 30% by 2017. In 2014 there was an expansion of the challenge under the de Blasio Administration to a 50% reduction by 2025, under the new One City: Built to Last plan. This presentation will review efforts to include CHP under the competition guidelines.
