Summary

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Sandia National Laboratories partnered with Johnson Controls to deploy the company's BlueStream™ Hybrid Cooling System at NREL’s HPC datacenter to significantly reduce water consumption associated with evaporative cooling towers. Intelligent controls within the Johnson Controls' system coordinates the operation for optimum water and operating cost efficiency – operating wet when it’s hot and dry when it’s not. Presentation will cover the system design, retrofit installation, modeling, and preliminary test results.
