Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tanks are sized and designed to a given set of parameters. This presentation examines two TES projects, one for the Abu Dhabi Industrial City District and one for Stanford University Central Energy Facility, where for various reasons the actual parameters varied greatly from the design parameters during the performance testing. The effect of these differences on the performance and economics of the TES tanks will be presented.
