Combined Heat and Power appears to be part of a transitional solution from inefficient high carbon intensity energy communities to completely renewable energy communities. Thermal storage can play a significant a role in the delivering the full potential economic value and facilitate adoption of cogeneration, particularly in heating dominant regions. By using the geothermal based thermal energy exchange and storage system, hot and cold thermal energy can be efficiently delivered to buildings when required.
