08-14-2017 13:41

Summary

NC State University is comprised of several different types of campus precincts. One of the precincts is an unusual blend of private and public facilities, which are supported by the University’s utilities. This environment created a novel approach to providing reliable utilities.

The University is developing a project to install a combined heat and power system to increase peak steam production while also providing on site power. This project is being financed through a self-performed contract, which required extensive financial modelling. Also the project has required several approvals from regulatory agencies since the combined heat and power project will provide utilities to both private and public entities.
