Zero Capital Chiller Plant and Parasitic Load Optimization

03-13-2018 13:21

Summary

The UCSF CHP Plant was challenged to make significant operational efficiency improvements toward achieving the overall Campus carbon reduction goals of UCSF. Through a full plant equipment operations study by the O&M Team, improvements were identified and implemented using existing DCS controls programming which delivered a 47% reduction in average kw/ton for the chiller plant and a 15% reduction in plant parasitic equipment loads with zero capital cost.
