Summary

Energy service provider Dalkia has completed the acquisition of a 25% stake owned by Engie in waste-to-energy company TIRU.

Renewables Now reports that Dalkia already had 75% in TIRU and now fully owns the company. The acquisition is part of Dalkia’s commitment to fighting climate change, according to a press statement.

TIRU specialises in recovering energy and materials from household waste, providing electricity and steam for district heating networks and industrial sites. In 2017, the company treated 3.13 million tonnes of waste at 37 thermal, biological and recovery units in France, UK and Canada.

"Cap Dalkia", the  five-year corporate plan launched in September 2017, aims to strengthen that commitment by boosting the share of renewable and recovered energy sources in the Dalkia energy mix to 50% by 2022.

Dalkia is a subsidiary of French power utility EDF.
