Press Release, RMF Engineering

Baltimore - RMF Engineering announced today that Kenneth E. Pitz has been named President and CEO of the full-service engineering firm. Pitz will succeed Duane Pinnix, who will remain with the firm as a Principal and member of the Board of Directors. The appointment is effective immediately.

Pitz joined RMF as a project engineer in 1989. His in-depth knowledge of RMF’s operations and project protocol, coupled with oversight of the firm’s larger projects, led to his appointment as a member of RMF’s upper management team in 1998. Pitz has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2003.

“Ken was a natural choice for this role and we are at a great point in our company’s history to take on a new leader,” said Pinnix. “We’re fiscally sound, have a strong workforce, and we’re continuing our growth trajectory. Ken knows the business inside and out and he helped get us where we are today.”

RMF, a privately held company based in Baltimore, had revenues of $58 million in 2017 with significant year-over-year growth for the past several years. The firm currently has 280 employees and a significant presence along the east coast, with 12 offices in 10 states from New England to Florida. RMF has projects across the country and around the world, often working on four to five continents at the same time.

“I am grateful to the board of directors for their trust in me,” said Ken Pitz. “I can’t think of a better company to work for than RMF or a better leader to have worked with than Duane. I am very proud to be taking over for him and pleased to have the opportunity to continue our collaboration together.”

Duane Pinnix has been at the helm of RMF Engineering since 1998 and has steered the firm through a period of substantial growth. In his new role, he will split his time between client work, primarily in the government sector, and training new talent through RMF’s leadership development programs. He will also focus on working with a future leader in growing RMF’s newest office in Sarasota, Fla.

A top-ranked MEP firm, RMF has been recognized by Engineering News-Record (ENR) as a Top 500 Design Firm, Building Design + Construction Magazine as one of the nation’s top “Giants 300” engineering firms and Consulting-Specifying-Engineer as an “MEP Giant.” We were one of the first firms in the United States to earn the Certified Commissioning Firm (CCF) designation through the Building Commissioning Association (BCxA), be recognized by Consulting Specifying-Engineer as one of the nation’s top 25 “Commissioning Giants” three years in a row, and be a recipient of the PSMJ Circle of Excellence award.
