Summary

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) announced in a press release that their combined heat and power plant (CHP) Kent Renewable Energy had commenced operations on September 13, two months ahead of schedule ‘to specification and within budget’.

The CHP plant has a capacity of 27MW and is in Sandwich, Kent within the United Kingdom.

With fuel locally sourced courtesy of EuroForest, a UK-based independent timber supplier, the CHP plant delivers its renewable heat and power to a nearby business and science park.

CIP claims that the plant capacity will be enough to serve approximately 50,000 homes and offset 100,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year. The project itself has provided more than 250 jobs in its construction and will provide 30 jobs to operate the site during its 20-year lifespan.
