THE company behind plans to build 2,750 homes on a site between York and Knaresborough has revealed that it could heat the development using energy generated by a huge incinerator.
Flaxby Park Ltd says its district heating scheme would take steam - or very hot water - from the nearby waste recovery centre at Allerton via an insulated pipeline running under the A168 and A1 to its proposed development at Flaxby Park.
A heat exchanger in every property would convert the piped heat into water at an appropriate temperature to flow round a conventional central heating system, said a spokeswoman.
