Summary

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with TTS Martin, s.r.o.  to supply engines for a 28-MW power and heating plant in Slovakia.

TTS Martin is the engineering, procurement and construction leader on the power plant for state-owned utility Martinska teplarenska, a.s. The plant will utilize three Rolls-Royce Bergen B35:40V20AG2 natural gas-fired reciprocating engines and four hot-water boilers.

The engines will replace Martinska teplarenska’s existing coal-fired operation. In addition to electricity, the engines and boilers will supply heat to much of the 60,000 population in the cities of Martin and Vrutky.

The upgrade of the district heating plant is part of Martinska teplarenska’s strategy towards sustainable power supplies and the winding-down of their coal operations. They are investing in gas-fueled reciprocating engines and gas boilers as a more long-term solution to reduce the emissions given off by coal-fired power plants.
