The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) mission is to advance the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.
Hassan Younes, member and president-elect, ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, and director of Griffin Consultants, says that when district cooling is applied correctly, it is considered to be as a one of the most resilient and sustainable ways to provide cooling.
He adds: “ASHRAE acknowledges the role of district cooling as a sustainable cooling solution and has focused on providing publications that tackle district cooling in the various stages; design, installation and operation to help the market in the middle east to grow and correctly apply district cooling.”
On an international level, ASHRAE and the International District Energy Association (IDEA) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising the organizations’ relationship.
