Metropolis DE Utility Partner RFEOI (Burnaby, BC, Canada)

Ivanhoe Cambridge invites qualified parties to respond to a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for a District Energy Utility Partner for their Metropolis at Metrotown development in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Metropolis at Metrotown is a 20 ha (47 acre) master planned development being developed by Ivanhoe Cambridge in the heart of one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods in Canada. Through multiple phases and over several decades Metropolis will see more than 1.2 million m2 (13 million square feet) of new residential and commercial development. The area surrounding the site (not controlled by Ivanhoe Cambridge) is likely to have a significant amount of high density development. Metropolis and the surrounding Metrotown neighbourhood are poised to become one of the most densely populated places in Canada.

The City of Burnaby has introduced green building regulations that limit the greenhouse gas emissions from new buildings. The density of development, and low carbon requirement have led Ivanhoe Cambridge to conclude that this site is well suited to serve as an anchor for a low carbon district energy system (DES).

Ivanhoé Cambridge is currently evaluating both technical concepts and business models for the Metropolis DES. This RFEOI process is to solicit responses from proponents who have the desire, capacity and experience to build, own, finance and operate a DES at Metropolis. Either in partnership with Ivanhoé Cambridge or as the sole owner. The exact scope of the proponent’s involvement and the project’s business structure will be determined as part of the process instigated by this RFEOI. To obtain a copy of the RFEOI and register your interest in the project, contact Hamideh Riseh, Manager, Energy and Sustainability, Ivanhoe Cambridge. Hamideh.Riseh@ivanhoecambridge.com

The final day for questions is 12:00 PM (Pacific Time) on October 16, 2020

Responses will be due 12:00 PM (Pacific Time) on October 30th, 2020
