Job Summary/Accountability

The Business Development Manager is accountable to build on a broad existing contact base and identify new opportunities for a consistent and profitable growth target of 5% per year in the Seattle and Portland markets.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years’ experience, and is expected to bring a structured, collaborative, detail-oriented and a proactive approach. The ideal candidate mindset has a willingness to learn and re-learn, drive to continuously improve, and is team-centric with strong integrity.

 

The successful candidate will work with the General Manager and Enwave management team to develop opportunities and relationships to negotiate service agreements. In addition, the BD Manager will be accountable for:

 

  • Sourcing new sales leads and opportunities – on pipe and off pipe
  • Maintaining online sales management in Salesforce
  • Maintaining existing customer contracts and renewals
  • Developing proposals, presentations, term sheets, and deal memo’s
  • Develop, administer, and maintain Customer Account Management Plans for key and strategic customers (expected to be the top 10 revenue generating customers)
  • Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly sales reports

Relationships (internal/external)

The Business Development Manager will focus on building strong working relationships with all respective operating groups within the company and with external stakeholder groups, including but not limited to:

 

  • All levels of government and relevant Agencies, Boards and Commissions that impact the business of Enwave
  • Seattle’s existing customer base
  • The City of Seattle – Permitting, Planning, Sustainability Offices and SDOT
  • Seattle City Light
  • Local Contractors, Equipment suppliers, and Engineering firms
  • Seattle’s 2030 District
  • International District Energy Association (“IDEA”)
  • Building Owners and Managers Association (“BOMA”)
  • Enwave Engineering, Operations and Finance teams

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Technical or engineering degree is a plus
  • Five (5) years’ experience with energy systems, district energy, commercial leasing, and customer service
  • Commercial leasing experience required, including knowledge of energy consumption, operating costs, building costs, common area maintenance costs, taxes, maintenance, and insurance
  • Ability to analyze energy data and make recommended solutions to solve customer issues
  • Financial experience with a solid understanding of pricing strategies to ensure revenue, gross margin, and profit growth
  • BOMA Certification preferred
  • LEED Certification preferred
  • Flexibility to travel between operating locations
