Empower inks pipeline expansion, TES systems, ETS contracts in 2021

Summary

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), which is touted as the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has awarded multiple contracts for the development of company’s district cooling infrastructure in Dubai during Q1 2021.

The contracts worth $59mn (AED217mn) include the expansion of pipeline networks; setting up semi-permanent plant rooms; establishing Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems; Energy Transfer Stations (ETS), among others.

Phase 1 of the contracts was awarded for activities related to network expansion, including network consultancy, procurement of pre-insulated pipes, fittings, and valves as well as installations for major projects.

The contracts comprised Marsa Al Arab, Omniyat ANWA Tower, Wasl1, and DAMAC’s Aykon City on Sheikh Zayed road, as well as expanding the network in its district cooling plants in Dubai Health Care City, Dubai Media City, and Jumeirah Beach hotels.

Contracts that were awarded during the period also include setting up of semi-permanent plants and energy transfer stations for Empower’s various projects, including the Deira Waterfront development.

The chief executive officer of Empower, Ahmad bin Shafar, highlighted the company’s enthusiasm to provide high-quality and environmentally friendly district cooling services to its wide range of customers in various parts of Dubai, especially the new clients, whose number rises significantly every year with the growth and development witnessed in the booming real estate sector.
