The first cogeneration station in the city of Kharkiv was launched at the Saltivska boiler house on April 28.
“Now the Saltivska boiler house will operate on its own electricity. We understand the need to save power, and for this we need to generate electricity ourselves. By the new heating season, we expect to launch cogeneration both at CHPP-3 and at one more boiler house, and in general this will make it possible to restrain the growth of tariffs for heat and hot water,” the press service of the Kharkiv City Council said, citing Secretary Ihor Terekhov.
According to him, this project worth about EUR 5 million was implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The new station will increase the efficiency of gas use by 30-40%, thereby reducing the cost of heat and electricity.
