Summary

The Windsor Utilities Commission has announced an agreement with Enwave Windsor Holdings LP for the sale of District Energy Windsor in a deal it says will lead to an expansion of the downtown thermal energy network.

Enwave will acquire the underground piping network connecting the various municipal, and a few private, buildings in the downtown core along with a ‘chilling plant’ for summertime cooling in the deal.

The company already operates the power generation substation for the downtown core located inside Caesar’s Windsor.

“The reason it’s a good time to sell is mostly driven by the city’s community energy plan,” said Enwin CEO Helga Reidel. “The city wants to grow the system and that’ll require quite an investment.
