Summary

Aecom has been drafted in to lead the development of consents and permits in the first phase of the ambitious Humber Zero carbon capture project.

The Humber Region is the UK’s largest industrial cluster by CO2 emissions, generating 12.4MT annually. The Humber Zero project aims to remove 8MT a year by 2030.

To do this, Humber Zero will integrate carbon capture and storage technology to units at Phillips 66 Humber Refinery and VPI Immingham combined heat and power plant. This will include integrating specialist technologies, including absorption techniques to capture and recover the CO2, into the existing processing units and plants.

Along with planning consultants DWD, Aecom will guide these two Humber Zero projects through the consents phase by preparing planning and permit applications and supporting environmental impact assessment. This will include a detailed review of the impact the projects will have on the local environment and community.
