On Wednesday March 9, Congress announced a deal on the omnibus appropriations bill for the 2022 fiscal year. The Joint Explanatory Statement for the Energy & Water Division increases funding for the CHP TAPs & related activity to $13 million.
“The agreement provides not less than $13,000,000 to provide ongoing support for the Combined Heat and Power ( CHP) Technical Assistance Partnerships ( T APs) and related CHP Technical Partnership activities, including not less than $5,000,000 for the TAPs and not less than $7,000,000 for related CHP activities. The Department is directed to collaborate with industry on the potential energy efficiency and energy security gains to be realized with district energy systems.” (Division D, p. 45 [p. 91 of the pdf]).

The House is expected to debate and vote on the bill today, as well as a short-term continuing resolution until March 15th to give the Senate more time if needed to pass the omnibus.
