According to the Dairy Council (NI) AD has an important role to play in the future of decarbonizing Northern Ireland’s heat, power and transport networks and the local dairy supply chain had helped prove the effectiveness of the technology, with many of Northern Ireland’s dairy processes already fueled by renewable gas.
In the area of energy efficiency, all Lakeland processing sites have moved away from heavy fuel oil to natural gas and on each site combined heat and power (CHP) units are used to generate electricity and harness any waste heat.
