Amsterdam waste disposal company AEB is going to process some 800,000 kilos of household waste from Rome on a weekly basis, the council-owned company has confirmed, following a report in the AD. ‘The waste will be put on the train in Rome in bales and go straight to the AEB incinerator,’ a AEB spokesman said. The heat generated by the incinerator is used for district heating schemes. ’This will benefit the environment more than to leave it in a landfill in Rome, even taking the transport into account,’ the spokesman said.
