Construction for the planned expansion of the geothermal district heating network in the municipality of Grünwald in Germany has officially started with a groundbreaking ceremony. The aim of the project is to expand north of the Grünwald district heating network with a 4.7-kilometer-long transmission line. Construction work is expected to last until December.
Plans for the expansion of the district heating network in Grunwald had been announced in mid-2022. In early 2023, utility Erdwärme Grünwald (EWG) announced that permits have been filed for the construction of an interconnection line from the Laufzorn location across the Grünwald forests and to the site of the Bavaria Filmstadt theme park.
