Summary

The South Tehran Wastewater Treatment Plant has launched a biogas power plant for units 5 and 6, which was inaugurated by Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian. The power plant has two combined heat and power (CHP) generators with a total nominal capacity of 2.4 megawatt hours and can generate up to 15 million kilowatt hours of electricity. The implementation of this project will result in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 75,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

The biogas power plant collects biogas from wastewater treatment and prevents its release into the environment. By generating electricity and heat from the biogas and avoiding the consumption of fossil fuels, the production and release of methane gas is also prevented. This innovative solution provides an environmentally-friendly and sustainable method of energy production.
