It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our esteemed founder and CEO, Paul Skoglund. Paul departed from this world peacefully on May 9, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Paul Skoglund was a visionary and an exceptional entrepreneur who developed the first pressure independent control valve for the HVAC market nearly 35 years ago. This invention, the DeltaPValve, along with his unwavering passion for innovation and dedication to excellence led directly to the founding of Flow Control Industries. His leadership and extensive knowledge of the industry helped to create an entirely new category of control valves, and firmly established FCI as the preeminent manufacturer of those valves in the HVAC industry.
Paul’s entrepreneurial spirit and his relentless pursuit of excellence were instrumental in shaping the culture and values of our organization. His ability to inspire and motivate those around him was unmatched, and his guidance and mentorship touched the lives of countless individuals within our company and the wider industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He possessed a warm and generous spirit underneath a gruff exterior that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others will be deeply missed. During this challenging time, our thoughts and prayers are with Paul’s family, friends and loved ones. We offer our deepest condolences and stand united in support as we navigate this profound loss together.
In honor of Paul’s memory and to carry forward his vision, Flow Control Industries remains steadfast in our commitment to upholding the principles and values that he instilled in our company. "I had the pleasure of knowing Paul for nearly 35 years through our mutual involvement in the International District Energy Association (IDEA). We served together on the IDEA Board of Directors in the late 1990’s. Previously, during the early years of my career in district energy, Paul helped me educate customers on our district cooling system in Hartford on the importance of two-way valves and delta T optimization. He was foremost a teacher, and played a large part in the global growth of the district cooling industry, always believing in the importance of lifelong learning and collaboration. My heartfelt condolences to the Skoglund family and the Flow Control Family. Heaven just got a little cooler and more efficient with his passing."
