Summary
WSP has been named as the owner’s engineer for the carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project, to be constructed at Heidelberg Materials’ cement plant in Edmonton, Alberta.
The site will capture emissions from the Heidelberg Materials cement production facility as well as the associated combined heat and power plant that will be constructed, located in the northwest of the city. The goal is to capture one million tonnes of CO2 annually.
It’s the first project of this scale for the cement industry worldwide.
