Summary
Plans have been lodged for an energy centre to support the development of a heat and power network in Stourton in Leeds.
SSE Energy Solutions has submitted a full planning application to Leeds City Council for the energy centre and associated supporting infrastructure on part of the former Skelton Grange Power Station site.
The proposed Aire Valley Energy Centre would comprise a main building and supporting flue stack and thermal stores.
Infrastructure would also be provided to support the heat network, including sections of pipes and private wiring.
SSE intend to develop a new heat and power network in Stourton to supply commercial customers with heated water and 11kV power supply generated from an adjacent Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). The ERF will generate energy from waste and is currently under construction by Enfinium.
The heat and power recovered from the ERF will be managed from the new energy centre.
