The solar energy microgrid project in Slemon Park near Summerside is nearing completion of repairs from 2022's post-tropical storm Fiona.
Located near the banks of Malpeque Bay in Slemon Park, mechanical construction on the microgrid had been completed the same week Fiona caused widespread destruction across the province. At that point, the facility was less than a month away from supplying Maritime Electric with green energy for Slemon Park.
The storm caused significant damage to the facility's solar panels, delaying the green energy project for more than a year.
