A specialist in geothermal energy is looking to expand its capabilities to provide lower carbon heating from renewable sources by obtaining the operations of a former shale gas company. The deal will allow the company to repurpose a number of gas wells intended for fracking.
CeraPhi says it acquisition of former shale gas development company Third Energy will allow it to repurpose the group’s operations into geothermal energy centres that can provide heat for a range of lower carbon projects.
Gary Williams, chief operating officer with CeraPhi, says one aim of the acquisition plans will be to partner with utility providers to connect up heat network systems to the planned geothermal energy centres.
