Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) has proudly been awarded the prestigious 2024 Jay Hollingsworth Speas Airport Award. This accolade - a collaboration by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the AAAE, and the Airport Consultants Council (ACC) - celebrates PIT's innovative microgrid project, hailed for its remarkable environmental and economic benefits.
Operational since the summer of 2021, PIT's award-winning microgrid, developed in partnership with Peoples Natural Gas, IMG Energy Solutions, and CNX, is a shining example of the airport's unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation. The microgrid harnesses the power of natural gas and solar energy, utilizing panels installed on a repurposed capped landfill.
With our recent acquisition, Cordia is proud to be part of this transformative journey, steering the airport towards a greener future. Congratulations to PIT on this well-deserved recognition, setting new standards for sustainable aviation!
