Summary

Brightcore Energy, an Armonk, New York-based provider of renewable energy solutions for the commercial and institutional markets, has been selected to execute a 2.2-MW DC solar project at the campus of Princeton University in New Jersey.

The company is developing the project, which includes two rooftop-mounted arrays and two canopy-mounted systems, for the university’s Facilities Organisation. Brightcore said on Wednesday it expects to start construction of the scheme in the summer of 2024.

The four installations together will be made up of 4,039 panels and are estimated to generate 2,588 MWh of electricity a year, offsetting 1,834 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The use of renewable energy as the campus energy source is part of Princeton’s Sustainability Action Plan as the university pursues net carbon neutrality by 2046.
