Following a joint study by Wuppertaler Stadtwerke GmbH (WSW) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy (Fraunhofer IEG), data indicates there is geothermal potential in the north of Wuppertal, Germany. Thus, the municipal utility has now applied for approval of a seismic campaign to further explore and characterize this potential which can later be harnessed for geothermal heating.
