Summary
The funding will help link the city centre college’s David Hockney Building and Advanced Technology Centre on Great Horton Road to the under construction Bradford Energy Network.
The network, which is currently being laid out under Bradford’s streets, will use air source heat pumps to heat a number of large buildings in the city centre.
The network is expected to go live in 2026, and will cover a number of public buildings owned by Bradford Council.
Buildings on the Bradford district heating network are expected to benefit from an 85-90 per cent reduction in emissions, contributing to a city-wide reduction in emissions of approximately 8,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in the first phase of the network.
