Energy giant said laying 10 kilometres of additional pipeline could connect more customers to potential sources of low carbon heat that would otherwise go to waste
E.ON is aiming to more than double the size of its existing district heat network in Sheffield through a "multi-million-pound" investment to connect more households and businesses to sources of low carbon heat in the Don Valley area.
The existing district heating scheme is powered by E.ON's Blackburn Meadows combined heat and power plant, which uses recycled waste wood sourced from within the UK to generate 30MW of electricity and 25MW of heat to power up to 69,000 homes and businesses.
