Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Winfried Damm, director of the Reform of the District Heating Sector in Ukraine project (ReWarm), have signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Kiev City Council and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) toward upgrading the city's centralized heat supply system, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Kiev mayor's website.
"In May, Kiev endorsed an energy recovery concept through distributed cogeneration. This is a large set of measures. In particular, we plan to make heat and power generation local and distributed among different districts of the city. We are speaking of energy decentralization. New mini low- and medium-capacity heat and power plants capable of using various types of fuel will appear in the capital," Klitschko said.
