Summary
The China National Petroleum Corporation (Sinopec) through the Oil, Gas and New Energy Branch have approved the pilot projects for geothermal heating in the Xianghe County and Dachang Hui Autonomous County of the Dagang Oilfied in China. If fully implemented, The two geothermal pilot projects will provide heating areas of 18 million square meters and six million square meters, respectively, making it Sinopec’s largest geothermal heating cluster in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region or the Jing-Jin-Ji cluster.
The projects are part of the “New Energy Business Cooperation Agreement” signed between the two counties earlier this year that seeks to establish cooperation in the establishment of pilot projects for clean energy, such as geothermal heating and waste heat utilization. Ultimately, the goal is to develop clean energy to replace coal and gas heating.
