We're honored to be among the recipients of the Michigan Public Service Commission grant award for electrification and renewable energy projects. As part of the Michigan Renewable Energy and Electrification Infrastructure Enhancement and Development Grant, Vicinity's Grand Rapids operations have been awarded more than $2 million to assist with the electrification of our district energy system. The electrification process will allow us to decarbonize our operations and offer carbon-free eSteam™ to our customers across Grand Rapids.
The grant program prioritized funding for infrastructure or planning projects that meet one or more of the MI Healthy Climate Plan goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition toward economy-wide carbon neutrality.
