Summary
There could be as much as 5 GW of nuclear capacity in small modular reactors (SMRs) online in Europe by the mid-2030s, lobby group Eurelectric secretary general Kristian Ruby said late on Tuesday.
According to the European Commission, SMRs could also play a key role in reducing emissions in hard to decarbonise sectors such as transportation, the chemical and steel industries and district heating.
