Summary
The RELLIS Campus just keeps growing and has become a hotbed for leading-edge innovation. The work done on-campus pulls experts from across the country, not only to learn hands-on but help educate students, researchers, and leaders.
Most recently, the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved more than half-a-billion dollars' worth of projects. This includes the construction of a new hypersonic wind tunnel that will begin in December. Once complete, it will be the largest academic facility of its kind in the country.
The System announced in May it is looking to move into the Nuclear Energy sector. This means supporting the buildout of commercial-grade nuclear reactors at RELLIS. David Staack, associate vice chancellor for research, told KBTX this project will directly contribute power to the Texas Energy Grid, A&M Campuses, and locals.
